The three topics to avoid during an interview, especially in American job seeking culture and they are as follows:
1. Anything negative about your current or past job, boss or supervisor. Even if you are having problems, refrain from saying anything negative.
Instead, focus on the positive. You might even saying something like, “I want a more challenging position” or” I would like to try something new”.
The next thing you should avoid is
2. “Am I a good fit for this job?”
You don’t not want to seem as if you are doubtful of yourself or your skills; therefore, you should ask alternative questions that can give you the same answer such as requesting more information about the company.
Or you could also ask what type of characteristics are they looking for in the person that that they give this position to.
3. The third topic that you should not mention anything regarding wages, salary or vacation time.
Although this may be very important avoid bringing this topic up on your own.
If it is discussed, let the interviewer bring it up first.
Keep in mind that you don’t want to seem more interested in what the company can do for you versus what you can do for the company.
Understanding these things are fundamental to the American job interview process and if you avoid mentioning these topics, it will certainly make your interview process a lot easier.
