HOW TO GET A TESOL CERTIFICATION ONLINE

There are several TESOL certification online programs as well as traditional classroom instruction programs. The best way to choose is to find what type of setting best fits your lifestyle. There are also programs that offer online courses, and allow time for hands-on classroom experience as well.

Before choosing a program find out the requirements, and see what type of program best fits you. There are TESOL certification’s that accept almost everybody that speaks English like a native, and other programs that are far more selective. More selective programs also require a Bachelor’s degree, and satisfactory scores on standardized English proficiency tests.

Many TESOL certification online and off-line programs only require course/package selection and payment. While other programs such as Teacher’s College asks for a completed application, personal statement, official transcripts, official copies of language proficiency test scores (non-native English speakers only) and a $50 application fee.

When getting your TESOL certification online be sure to complete all of the course work in a timely manner all while being mindful of the syllabus. Live classrooms work the same way except you should be sure to attend all the class sessions as well as the student teaching training (if the course requires this). Upon the completion of the program you should receive your TESOL certificate online or in the mail. Some Colleges have graduation requirements such as students must have a B average to qualify for their TESOL certification. Most programs clearly map out their student assessment programs, while others don’t seem to have an assessment program at all.

Many TESOL certification online programs offer job placements, career guidance, and networking as apart of their overall program. One helpful is the career center at TESOL.org which gives people the opportunity to network with recruiters, as well as having a list of positions available. They also have a job fair in New York called the Job Market Place, which is an annual teaching job fair
